On December 13, 1769, Mozart set off with his father on his first of three extraordinarily successful trips to Italy, which lasted – with interruptions – almost three and a half years.

Mozart was probably in our house several times.

On December 14, 1769, he stayed with his father Leopold at the Goldener Adler. Furthermore, the two were with us from October 25-27, 1772, and on October 26 he made an excursion to the Damenstift in Hall in Tyrol.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in Salzburg on January 27, 1756. He had six siblings, but only two of them reached adulthood. His father was the prince-bishop’s chamber musician Leopold Mozart, who had moved to Salzburg from Augsburg to study, and his mother was Anna Maria Pertl, who grew up in Sankt Gilgen on Lake Wolfgang.

He was taught to play the piano and to compose by his fatherat the age of 4.

As early as 1762 he had his first performances on the piano and violin and was considered a child prodigy. In 1772, at the age of only 16, he became concertmaster in Salzburg.

From 1777 he made a long city trip with his mother and tried to find a new and better job. But he got neither employment nor musical commissions and so he became a freelance composer in Vienna from 1781 to 1791.

During this time, he created the great operas and piano concertos. In 1782 he married his wife Constanze Weber, with whom he had six children, although only two of them survived childhood.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart died on December 5, 1791, in Vienna and is buried there.

He wrote, among other works, 21 operas, 17 masses, 48 orchestral works, 43 chamber music works, as well as another 18 piano sonatas and 42 organ works and songs.

His most famous works are “Eine kleine Nachtmusik”, “The Marriage of Figaro”, “The Magic Flute”, “Sonata in C”, “40th Symphony”, “The Abduction from the Seraglio”, “Don Giovanni” and “Così fan tutte”.
